Fall Crafts can be one of those boring, Fall coloring pages that they have all over the place. It can also be a copycat, pumpkin project found online.

OR, it can be a wonderful, creative, fall collages you see above, where children get to use their creativity to their fullest to create the most beautiful pieces of artwork.

Educational arts and crafts is the method of this type of crafts and I will walk you through exactly how we did this.

This type of collage is best done in 3 steps.

Step 1

Collect some fall pictures that will give the children a basic idea of what they can choose from. I have include some images of some of the pictures I showed the children here before the activity but in retrospect, they could have been better samples. You can find lots of pictures online and if you have  a color printer, then just print them out. Make sure you have at least 5 pictures for them to  view.

You explain to the children that they are in no way to copy these pictures, they are just to give them some ideas.

Step 2

From viewing the pictures I had selected I determined that the fixed, prepared objects I would have to present to the children to give them a starting point I prepared a whole bunch of different size brown trunks. Some straight and some curved.

The children were told to decide if they wanted to make a picture with one large trunk, 2, or a few smaller ones and to choose what they would need to being their pictures.

Step 3

They were then told to choose their materials from an array (what I call cafeteria style)that they would use to create their fall pictures.

Fall craft materials

I made sure to choose materials that were suggestive of what they could make, like crafts sticks and cotton balls and of course fall color materials.

I usually give the children tagboard to work on as it is thicker than construction paper and in this case I gave them the larger size in white.

Here is the best time for you the adult to get creative in choosing the right materials for these type of educational crafts.

The children in this group are from 7-10 and above are some of the beautiful results.
